This business group undertakes the role of prime or lead contractor and principal systems integrator for complex projects that involve technology from ADI's business groups, its shareholders Transfield Holdings and Thales and other subcontractors. Major capabilities include:
Project management including turnkey, design and construct, and installation
Systems engineering including design, development, manufacture, and testing and commissioning
Whole ship platform production
Current major programs include the upgrade of the Navy’s guided missile frigates. Future programs include prime contracting the construction of two LHD Amphibious Ships for the RAN.
While Naval business group’s strength is in naval programs it is also active in other naval market segments including the development and implementation of combat management and command support systems.
Aerospace/helicopter - ADI has teamed with Eurocopter for the armed reconnaissance helicopter program.

 Land - Ordnance
The Land Ordnance business group designs, develops, manufactures, stores and distributes a diverse product range of ordnance for both Defence and commercial applications, including propellants, small arms weapons, light engineering and ammunition projects together with managing the storage and distribution of explosive ordnance. It has a long-term agreement to supply munitions to the Australian Defence Force from ADI's manufacturing facility in Benalla, Victoria. Manufacturing covers some 40 product lines including Small Arms Ammunition (SAA) for rifles, machine guns and cannon, large calibre ammunition for Naval and field artillery use, together with grenades, aircraft bombs and numerous miscellaneous items. Propellants, chemicals and high explosives are manufactured at our Mulwala, New South Wales facility. ADI has also developed Australia's first small insensitive munitions capability at Mulwala to fill the warheads for the Royal Australian Navy's Penguin air-to-surface missiles.
ADI's Lithgow facility, loacted in New South Wales, manufactures small arms weapons including the 5.56mm Austeyr individual weapon and the 5.56 Minimi light-support weapon as well as SAFLOK handcuffs and aeronautical control fins. Numerous miscellaneous items are also manufactured due to the comprehensive light engineering capability of the facility. ADI also maintain a capable design house for munitions products centred in Melbourne.
Through another long-term contract, ADI store, maintain and distribute Australian Defence Force munitions. Headquartered at Orchard Hills in NSW, this business operates Australia-wide and distributes munitions to the Australian Defence Force throughout Australia.
 Land - Engineering & Vehicles
This business group's capabilities include the design, development, integration, project management, manufacture and through life support a range of defence and civil equipment for both local and international customers. Of specific note, ADI produces the Bushmaster, an infantry mobility vehicle that provides ballistic and mine blast protection for up to 10 troops while having unrivalled situation awareness, fatigue reduction features and the ability to rapidly deploy over long distances. Additionally the High Mobility Engineering Vehicle (HMEV) which is a purpose built military backhoe tractor capable of a range of engineering functions and also rapid self deployment at convoy speeds of up to 100 km/hr
