AIR 87 - Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter

ADI is the main Australian partner of the international Eurocopter syndicate for the Air87 Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter project. In this area, ADI develops, supplies and integrates some key elements of the integrated mission/communication system of the Tiger. ADI participates in the prime contractor's team bringing its considerable experience in prime contracting to Eurocopter, through its subsidiary Australian Aerospace, in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

ADI is involved in a wide range of activities on this program which include:

• Supporting Eurocopter, through its subsidiary Australian Aerospace, to ensure the modified helicopter meets unique Australian requirements. This work involves ADI in systems engineering, documentation management, development of modified software and testing of the changes to the mission system.
• Development and provision of the communications system for the helicopter and the Ground Mission Management (GMM) systems to ensure that data exchange can occur between the helicopter and the ground in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) environment.
• Provision of the software support facility in Australia to support the platform throughout its life cycle.
• Production in Australia of the Tiger helicopter harness worldwide.
• Production in Australia of components for and assembly of the gun and the rocket system.
• Undertake the production test program for the mission system.
• Conduct the Logistic Support Analysis/Logistic Support Analysis Requirements (LSA/LSAR) for the helicopter in Australia.
• Production of Avionics and Helmet Mounted Displays.
• Develop the capability to conduct deep maintenance of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) avionics.
• Support the Australian Tiger Project Management Office drawing on the company's extensive project management experience across a wide range of disciplines, projects and international partners.
