ADI's naval defence capabilities are recognised throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. They include systems integration, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Electronic Warfare(C4ISREW), mine countermeasures, ship building, conversion and upgrade and logistics support services.

ADI provides the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) with state-of-the-art combat, command and control, and communication systems. As the RAN's leading provider of communication systems, we are currently upgrading those systems on the ANZAC ships. We have also provided the communication systems for the RAN's HUON CLASS minehunters and hydrographic ships. A deployable joint force headquarters system which provides all the facilities of a shore headquarters has been designed, developed and installed by ADI on the amphibious transports HMAS MANOORA and HMAS KANIMBLA. The deployable headquarters is based on ADI's core joint force command system which is used by every major Australian defence headquarters.

ADI currently is upgrading the combat systems on the RAN's guided missile frigates (FFG), a AUD$1 billion complex systems integration project. With their combat and sensor systems significantly enhanced, the frigates will be the leading ships of their class worldwide. ADI has developed the Australian Distributed Architecture Combat System (ADACS) as the FFG replacement naval combat data system.

The prime contracting of naval shipbuilding programs is a specialist capability. The on schedule, within budget construction of the HUON CLASS minehunters has been one of Australia's most successful defence projects. The HUON CLASS is providing Australia with a world leading mine warfare capability. ADI will build the RAN's six new amphibious watercraft.

ADI additionally provides long term support management and technical support for specific classes of ships within the RAN fleet via our In Service Support contract for the HUON Class Minehunters and Refit Planning and Logistic Support Services provided for HMAS SUCCESS, YOUNG ENDEAVOUR and the FFG Class Frigates.

The company operates the RAN's major east coast refit, repair and maintenance facilities at Garden Island on Sydney Harbour. The facility's highly skilled workforce, systems capabilities and quality and management systems are second to none. Recent major refits include HMAS Ships SUCCESS and NEWCASTLE, and STS Young Endeavour.

ADI's Australian Minesweeping System (AMAS) is a multiple influence (magnetic, acoustic, electric) emulation sweep which is also suitable for operation in Mine Setting Mode. AMAS is now in service with eight Navies. The design characteristics of the sweep system are high shock resistance, low maintenance, clip-on capability, no external power required, and the ability to be towed by a wide range of surface craft, including remote-controlled drone boats. See Australian Minesweeping System News.

Guided weapons are a growing activity. We have designed and manufactured the canister, launcher and propulsion unit for the Nulka rocket and manufactured the warhead for the Penguin missile. We have also provided design services and manufactured elements for the international Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile.
