Controllable Pitch Propulsion Lines

Overview

ADI is the sole Australian licensee to acbLIPS, France and Fincantieri DCM, Italy for manufacture and in-service support of the complete controllable pitch propulsion line for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Huon Class minehunters.

ADI's Bendigo Facility is also licensed to the Bird-Johnson Co, USA to manufacture, set to work and provide in-service support for their controllable pitch propulsion systems for the RAN's FFG frigates. This work has encompassed:

• Manufacture of the complete CPP systems including propeller blades, hubs, oil distribution boxes and shafting at the Bendigo facility
• Complete assembly of the components onto a test bed facility
• Testing the assembly to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specification which included a spin test of 300 hours continuous at 200rpm
• Fitting and setting to work of the systems into the two Australian built Royal Australian Navy FFGs (Guided Missile Frigates)
• Provision of in-service support including refurbishment back to OEM specifications

The complete systems were initially manufactured at ADI's Bendigo facility. With this knowledge and capability ADI also established high quality cost-effective licenced in-service support services.
