	ADI's submarine launched flare - designed to surpass all others

To add to an extensive range of innovative products for military and civil use, ADI has developed a range of flares and markers that can be launched from a submarine to indicate the vessel position.

These products are designed to give maximum performance in situations ranging from emergency signalling to combat training.

These products contain safety features required by the following international standards: NATO STANAG 4187, US MIL STD 1316 (equivalent to ISO 9001 and AQAP1).

ADI has developed the Visual Indicator System Exercise Mine (VISEM) ( 277Kb ). This product is a fully autonomous device that gives real-time audio/visual indication of the actuation of exercise mines. Attached to the mine, VISEM separates on deployment and is suspended above the mine by a tether.

On exercise mine actuation a surface position marker (SPM) rises to the surface of the water an attention grabbing display. Three loud photoflash payloads fire in succession and a 70,000-cd flare candle burns to indicate contact.
